Niagara Falls community members have shown an outpouring of support after windows were smashed, items were stolen, and countertops were ruined at The Little Bakery.
What You Need To Know
- The Little Bakery in Niagara Falls was recently vandalized
- The bakery still went forward with a food giveaway Monday
- A GoFundMe has been set up to help the bakery
"They broke in and they destroyed everything. It sickens me,” says Jason Conte, The Little Bakery owner.
Monday morning, The Little Bakery owners learned someone had broken in the back window, destroyed their $20,000 mixer and stole the safe which was bolted to the wall.
"First of all, why do that to anybody, but more so about us? We give so much to our community. And our community is supporting us 100 percent right now. But why do that to us?" asks Samantha Bassett, The Little Bakery owner.
The Little Bakery owners have focused on helping the community, especially during the pandemic — and even after learning about the vandalism, that didn't change. They went forward with a food giveaway Monday afternoon by teaming up with other organizations to provide food and drinks to people free of charge.
"We're not going to stop. They're good people in this town, that support us … because of one bad person," says Conte.
"It's always sad when you have any business have to suffer this kind of loss. Certainly The Little Bakery has been doing an awful lot for the community over the course of these several weeks," says Robert Restaino, Niagara Falls mayor.
To help The Little Bakery recover, a GoFundMe page has been created. As of Wednesday morning, the fundraiser has raised $37,450.
Community members say they are here for The Little Bakery, just like The Little Bakery has been here for them.
