Border patrol agents in Western New York are now taking extra precautions as the coronavirus continues to spread.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirms at least five cases of coronavirus in the United States and reports of two cases in Toronto.

Canadian officials on Monday said the second case was identified that morning and is the wife of a man already being treated at a Toronto-area hospital. Ontario’s chief medical officer said the woman has been in self-imposed isolation since arriving in the city last week.

Canadian health agencies are reaching out to people who were aboard the same China Southern Airlines flight from China to Toronto.

Agents at the bridges between Western New York and Canada are keeping an eye out for people who might be infected.

Those showing symptoms of the virus will have an enhanced screening done by the CDC.

Enhanced health screenings are also in place for travelers entering the United States at five airports across the country, including JFK in New York City.

Travel is now restricted in 16 Chinese cities.

Common symptoms of the coronavirus are a runny nose, headache, sore throat, cough, and fever.
