It was a packed house for Monday night’s Albion Central School District Board of Education meeting, which came just weeks after officials stopped a potential attack at one of its schools.
The board says a lot is going on behind the scenes to ensure students in the district are safe, with one being the possible implementation of metal detectors in schools.
They’re now looking into having metal detectors after last month’s thwarted effort to bring about violence at Albion Middle School.
Three students have been charged with felony conspiracy after allegedly threatening to kill and injure students at the middle school.
The board held a meeting after this happened to listen to parents concerns.
On Monday night, the board said they’re making sure those concerns are being heard.
“We’re in a very unique position of having averted a potential tragedy and I’m so grateful to the students that had the courage to speak up. I hope it’s a lesson to all students that your voices matter if something doesn’t feel right please share it with someone,” said Kathy Harling, president of Albion Central School District Board of Education.
