More than a dozen animals — 12 horses and two dogs — were killed in an overnight barn fire in the village of Depew.

Depew fire and police departments responded to a call at 4447 Broadway St. around 1 a.m.

When they arrived, they found the barn at S&L Ranch engulfed in flames.

No people were injured.

There’s no word yet on how the fire started, but the barn is a total loss.

Other local crews assisted and worked throughout the night as the barn was filled with bales of hay.

Dawn Bulinski lost her horse, Scire, in the fire.

Her horse was born here at S&L ranch and she said she and the other boarders are devastated.

“Horrible, horrible. I’ve been here 15 years,” Bulinski said. “I got a call at 1:30 a.m. from the owner saying the barn was on fire and I asked him what he wanted me to do and he asked me if I could call the other boarders so I got on the phone and called everybody.”

Seven horses did survive but now have no shelter and limited food left.

A GoFundMe has been started to raise money to rebuild a stable for the remaining horses and to get them hay, feed and bedding.

Donations especially needed are 12 percent horse feed and hay.

Those donations can be dropped off at 4447 Broadway Street in Depew.
