Erie County's Rath Building reopened around 10:30 Friday morning after an electrical fire, but there are a few exceptions.

The fire was caused by a spark on an electrical panel on the ninth floor of the building around 6:30 a.m. Friday.

The building was shut down for most of the morning as a result until they could get power back on in the south end.

It came back on around 9 a.m.

No one was hurt and there was no other damage to the building, except for the electrical panel.

Employees on all other floors have already returned to work.

Floors 9, 10 and 11 will remain closed Friday and all employees get the day off as a result--they're being told not to report to work.

That includes the departments of Health, Environment and Planning, Legal Advocacy and the comptroller's office.

Buildings and grounds staff is working with the electrical contractor, Industrial Power and Light, to reroute power around the electrical box on the ninth floor that shorted out.

It was not immediately clear if those three floors will be open on Monday.
