A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer from Buffalo is being hailed a hero after saving the life of a child Sunday in Donna, Texas.

Officer Stacey McIssac was working in a facility there when she noticed the child choking on his food.

She performed the Heimlich maneuver, clearing the child's airway.

McIssac, who has been with CBP for five years, was moved to the southwest border in July. She is permanently assigned to the Buffalo Field Office.
