National Grid is preparing for possible outages with this extreme heat.

Air conditioners will be on around the clock in peoples’ homes and the company plans to monitor the usage on the system statewide.

The utility company has provided some tips on how to save energy while keeping cool.

"If you can increase your air conditioner from 75 to 78, certainly that is not only a cost savings but it also help reduce the load on the system,” said Virginia Limmiatis, a spokesperson for National Grid. “Closing your drapes and blinds reduces the temperature in your home or apartment, use a fan instead of AC."

National Grid will have crews ready to go if needed this weekend.
