The Sabres aren't the only hockey team making headlines in Buffalo this week.

The National Women's Hockey League is suing a subsidiary of Pegula Sports and Entertainment.

The dispute is over the Buffalo Beauts name and trademark.

PSE owns the Beauts and the trademark, even though it's given up control of the team.

It hasn't reached a deal to give the Beauts back to the league and said until a deal is reached, the league can't use Beauts material in league promotions.

But the league said it has every right to use the Beauts name and logo.

It filed its claim in district court this week, pointing to a licensing agreement between the league and the team.

It said when the league transferred the team to PSE, the two sides agreed that both were allowed to use the Beauts name and logo for promotional purposes.

There's no word on what the case means for the future of women's professional hockey in Buffalo.
