A 16-year-old boy has died following a shooting at a graduation party on Friday.

The incident happened in the quad area in the 200 block of Oakmont Street in Buffalo around 7:30 p.m. Police say that's when some kind of altercation occurred resulting in shots being fired.

The 16-year-old was struck and died from his injuries Saturday. His name is not being released at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Buffalo Police Department's Homicide Unit.

"A tragedy. You have a 16-year-old kid basically, and unfortunately, some knucklehead or knuckleheads pulled out guns and resulted in somebody dead who had their whole life ahead of them. Our condolences go out to the family," said BPD Captain Jeff Rinaldo.
