ALBANY, N.Y. - The state Assembly on Friday passed a bill that further decriminalizes marijuana in New York.

The measure cleared by a vote of 85 to 39.

It's one of the last pieces of legislation addressed by the chamber before it breaks for the summer.

The bill eliminates the criminal penalties for possessing up to two ounces of marijuana.

Anyone caught holding or using that much pot in public would face a fine of $50 to $200.

The Senate passed the bill on Thursday.

Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to sign it into law.
