A Frontier Central High School student is dead following a crash in West Seneca on Saturday.

Police say Edward Travis, 18, was driving on Route 20 when he crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic. He was ejected form the car and declared dead on the scene.

The picture of Travis above was taken the night before ahead of the Frontier Prom.

According to police, two cars collided near the Southtown Family YMCA shortly before 8 a.m. Travis was on his way there to volunteer.

Three other people involved in the crash were sent to the hospital. Travis' girlfriend (pictured above) Elizabeth Rybarczyk, who was a passenger, had emergency surgery and remains in critical condition.

The driver and passenger from the other car were treated and released.

Frontier Central School District Superintendent Dr. Richard Hughes says the community is in shock. Travis would have graduated this coming Friday.

Counseling will be available for students and teachers on Monday.

Calling hours for Travis will be held at the Pietszak Funeral Home in Cheektowaga from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18. Funeral services are scheduled for the following day at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. at St. Teresa's Parish in Buffalo.

He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.
