The Beverly Gray Business Exchange Center was dedicated Thursday.

The center was created to provide resources for small businesses on Buffalo’s East Side — more specifically women- and minority-owned businesses.

It was named in honor of former Buffalo Common Council member and community activist Beverly Gray.

It will be a one-stop technical resource center that will provide things like business planning education and free legal and accounting services for startup companies.

"The success of the East Side of Buffalo and the success of Jefferson Avenue is exactly what Beverly always thought and I agree with to this day: it's dependent on the people who are there, it's dependent on the people who want to be here, it's dependent on the people who stay,” said Crystal Peoples-Stokes, (D) Assembly majority leader.

City officials say they conducted a survey with more than 140 small businesses to see what was needed at the center.
