Restaurant week doesn’t just happen twice a year.

Black Restaurant Week begins Tuesday, putting a spotlight on restaurants owned and operated by entrepreneurs in the African American community.

Cake Crazy Bakery in Cheektowaga is one of the many restaurants offering deals all week, including $1 cookies on Tuesday, $2.50 cupcakes on Wednesday, two slices of cake for $6 on Thursday and buy-one-get-one brownies on Friday.

The bakery’s owner said more black-owned businesses are popping up around the area and sticking around.

"I pride myself on having a large selection for everyone,” Shetice Williams said. “We don't just have things that black people enjoy, we have baked goods and items that everyone can enjoy. And it's just an honor to be a part of this."

Other restaurants participating are Buffalo Soul Catering; PhatCatz Restaurant & Bar and The Oakk Room.
