New Yorkers are used to snow, but Governor Andrew Cuomo is warning the incoming storm is not to be trifled with. 

He stopped in Cheektowaga Saturday morning to provide an update on state operations.

State officials are advising anyone that doesn’t have to travel this weekend, not to.

 

Beginning at 3 p.m., buses and tractor trailers will be banned from the thruway through Sunday. While snow accumulation in some areas are expected to be around a foot, officials say the wind factor with create sub zero temperatures will make for dangerous conditions.

Nearly 300 National Guard members have been activated to provide transportation support. Additionally, more than 1,600 plows are out on the roads statewide. 

The state Department of Transportation has launched a new website to keep motorists updated on efforts.
