A Chautauqua County man who admitted to accidentally shooting and killing a woman while he was hunting learned his fate Monday.

Thomas Jadlowski will spend one to three years behind bars.

He pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide back in October.

Prosecutors say Jadlowski fired his pistol after hunting hours, shooting Rosemary Billquist, 43, while she was walking her dogs in a field behind her Sherman home.

This happened back in November of 2017.

Jadlowski told investigators that he mistook her for a deer.

Investigators determined the shots were fired well after sunset, the legal close of daily hunting.
