Many people will ring in the New Year with a clink of a glass but experts say there's a way to have fun without feeling it the next morning.

Dr. Samuel Shatkin Jr. from the Aesthetic Associate Centre says if you plan on celebrating with some drinks, make sure you think ahead so you kick off 2019 feeling hydrated, not hungover.

"Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. If you're taking an alcoholic drink, drink a glass of water along with it. That might help reduce some of the dehydration because alcohol is a diuretic, which means you're going to have to go to the bathroom," said Dr. Shatkin Jr. "People know that, especially if it's cold outside, Buffalo has an amazing ball drop which is spectacular. They're going to be out in the cold elements they need to make sure they stay warm. Alcohol will make them lose their temperature so that's really important,"

But if the night gets the best of you and you still wake up feeling under the weather there's a few home remedies you can try.

"Always have aspirin ready. Always have bottles of water or Gatorade or Pedialyte. But if it's a really bad hangover, half a beer with half orange juice, it works like a charm," insisted Jessica Dale Jordan.

If none of that does the trick, the Aesthetic Associates Center in Amherst can help with its IV Nutrition Therapy. The Rise and Shine formula specifically targets hangovers.

"And it includes a combination of vitamin B complex will help give them a little boost," said Dr. Shatkin, Jr. "IV hydration is critical to replenish because alcohol actually depletes hydration in our body, so we want to rehydrate them. It also includes some vitamin C and some minerals all those things are important. The other thing it includes too is anti-nausea medication, some people feel a little queasy so they really want to get that boost."

The treatment can take thirty minutes to an hour but leaves you feeling ready to take on the new year.
