Erie County sheriff's deputies spent the day horsing around, and all for a good cause.

Members of the reserve mounted unit hosted the Mounted for Meals food drive at West Seneca’s Southgate plaza. Organizers say just a little can go a long way.

"It's a real important time now because many of the people are in need and we want to bring them a spirit of joy,” said Response to Love Director Sister Mary Johnice. “Some of the people don't have the funds, some of them who are depressed; we want to bring that spirit of joy. So the contributions of food really brighten their day. It seems like a little thing to do, but it really is a great gift for people"

The event raises money and food supplies for the response to love center. The Buffalo-based nonprofit offers clothes, food, and other essentials to disadvantaged Western New Yorkers.
