The Niagara County Legislature has approved a $359 million budget for 2019 that includes a one percent tax break.

The dip in tax property revenue is expected to be covered through a boost in sales tax revenue, as the economy remains strong and more people are spending money in the county.

The tax rate is set at $7.01 per $1,000 of assessed value.

Also included in the budget is increased funding for highway repair and $20,000 for the Niagara Military Affairs Council, a group that works to keep the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station open.
