Snow just dumping on Jamestown and much of the Southern Tier.

Plows have been out since the early morning hours, clearing and salting the snow covered roads.

Crews says they were prepared, but are still having trouble trying to keep up the several inches of snowfall.

The weather also forced many businesses, schools, colleges and city court to close for the day.

In addition to plowing the steep hills, crews say illegally parked cars have also become an on-going problem.

"Sometimes it'll actually block the plow from actually being able to get through the street or what it always does is make it very dangerous for plowing,” said Mark Schlemmer, a civil engineer with the Jamestown Public Works Department. “Everything we can put a plow on, we've got a plow on and it's out right now."

A travel advisory has been lifted for Chautauqua County but remains in effecct for Cattaraugus County.
