EAST AURORA, N.Y. -- What do ice cream, coffee and chocolate all have in common besides being delicious? Well, if pollinating insects like honeybees were to go extinct, those foods would be gone. 

Masterson's Garden Center is celebrating the honeybee at its sixth annual Honey Harvest Festival this weekend. Not only can you learn about the process of making honey, even try it yourself, but learn how you can help save the honeybee.

This past winter, there was a 35 percent die-off rate — that's down from two years ago, where the die-off percentage was nearly half. But, the natural sustainable rate is 15 to 17 percent. The cause is colony collapse disorder and disease. One reason for the disease is pesticides. The chemicals mess with the honeybees’ ability to get back to the hive.
