BUFFALO, N.Y.  — Downtown Buffalo is about to have another entertainment option.

Get ready to sit back in a reclining chair watching the silver screen, with a chicken and waffle sandwich and perhaps one day soon, a cold beer to wash it down.

That's the vision for AMC Theatres Market Arcade 8, which opens Thursday on Main Street, four years after the last theater in the historic building closed.

It features eight screens of reserved seating, meaning film fans pick out seats when buying tickets online or in person.

And talk about kicking back: heated power reclining seats will keep movie buffs comfortable while watching a flick.

"It's not focusing on how many people can we get in at one time, but focusing on how can we have people really enjoy themselves so they want to come back," said Ryan Noonan, AMC Theatres spokesperson.

Then there's the food.  Sure, they have traditional movie treats like popcorn and candy.  But how about a chicken and waffle sandwich?  Or a flat-bread pizza?  Maybe chicken tenders?  The menu is loaded.

"Adding more options that give people the opportunity to not just get popcorn or candy or soda, but go beyond that," Noonan said.

AMC is also applying for a liquor license to serve alcohol here, just as it does at many of its locations around the country.  The State Liquor Authority will ultimately make the decision.  There's a hearing about the license next week, but the theater is ready to pull the tap for thirsty moviegoers.

"To get a beer or a glass of wine or a cocktail with their movie is something that's really big for people. People have really enjoyed it and it's got them excited about coming out to the movies again," Noonan said.

Worried about finding a parking spot downtown? Parking is available for $3 with a movie ticket nearby at the Augspurger Ramp and the M&T Lot.

"Parking is critical for a movie theatre like this. Clearly, there a lot of people coming in and out and we wanted to make sure it was accessible," Noonan said.

The premier showings at the Market Arcade 8 will run Thursday at 5 p.m.
