Buffalo, NY - Five children are grieving the senseless death of their mother to gun violence in broad daylight.

"Whoever did this just come forward, turn themselves in and do something. It's not right how people are getting shot killed everyday --even woman,” said one of Lakendra Tillmon’s children.

During a vigil for Lakendra Tillmon Friday, her children pleaded for justice.

31-year-old  Tillmon was hit and killed by a stray bullet while driving on Butler Avenue last Thursday.

"I never expected my mother to die this way," said another child.

Tillmon's death is one of a string of Buffalo homicides involving women and children.

"Somebody has to start saying something .Somebody has to start following it all the way through and once individuals start getting indicted and convicted of these charges  then they're not going to be so brazen about shooting out in open daylight,"  said Pastor James Giles.

A city wide peace walk is scheduled Saturday afternoon on Genesee Street.

Buffalo peacemakers and snug are sponsoring the event to spread their anti-violence message.
