BUFFALO, N.Y. — Lavon Amos was one of the many survivors that were able to reunite with the doctors and caretakers of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center that saved their lives at the Blood and Marrow Transplant Reunion.

"They gave me direction and for that, I'm forever grateful. They gave me the kind words, they gave me hope, you know and the way that they continued to let me know to push on," he said.

They were able to take his own stem cells and use them to treat the multiple myloma he was diagnosed with in late 2013.

Some survivors had their own stem cells "rescued" like Amos did, others recieved a transplant, sometimes from a different part of the world.
