BUFFALO, N.Y. — Big changes are coming to 79 Perry Street.

The building under renovations in Buffalo's Cobblestone District will soon be home to the Labatt House—a joint venture between Pegula Sports and Entertainment and beer-maker Labatt USA.

The ground floor will feature a restaurant, a brewery and tasting room and an outdoor beer garden.

It's located across the street from KeyBank Center—the home of the Sabres—steps away from Canalside and other Pegula-owned businesses.

"This area's so important to us because really it's home to all of our teams and HarborCenter being such an important asset for the community," said Bruce Popko, PSE chief operating officer. "So it really just becomes an extension of what the district looks like.”

Labatt has been a Buffalo staple for decades. Their American headquarters will move into the building.

"Buffalo is our home in the United States," said Brinn Johnson, director of retail strategy and business development, Labatt USA. "We've been here for 11 years. We really want to show the community how much we're committed."

The Labatt Brew House will allow guests to sample new varieties and experimental beers along with old pals Blue and Blue Light. The company wants to tap into the growing craft beer market.

"Asking them what do they like, what would they do differently? How would they change it to make it like the perfect beer?" Johnson said.

The 200-seat restaurant, called the “Draft Room,” will be operated by Pegula Sports and Entertainment's hospitality division, with a menu geared toward complimenting craft beers with shareable items. The 4000 sq. ft. beer garden will be open year-round.

"We now feel better about referring to it as an entertainment district because we keep having this sort of diverse offering in there and reasons for people to come down every day, it really becomes quite an attraction," Popko said.

The ground floor including the food and drink options is expected to open this fall. Labatt USA headquarters, PSE offices and residential space will take up the other four floors.
