AMHERST, N.Y. — Amherst residents are getting a better idea of what Northtown Plaza will eventually look like.

Leaders with property owner, WS Development LLC, gave the town's planning board an update Thursday night.

They showed various site plans that include six new buildings, a green space, a lounging area and currently confirmed tenants L.L. Bean, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and West Elm.

The group will be bringing the finished plan back to the board next month for a vote, but first they'll have to work out concerns about creating enough space for pedestrians and cars to navigate the plaza.

"Some of the concerns that were raised, I really don't see as concerns, but really opportunities to address people's perspective of how it fits within the community. And so we'll go back and evaluate if the pedestrian connectivity appropriate for the neighborhood,” said Andrew Manning of WS Development Associates LLC.

Manning says they hope to break ground this summer and open the first stores in spring 2019.
