With an ice storm impacting our area, National Grid is bringing in an additional 2,00 crew members for support.

An ice storm warning was issued for Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee & Wyoming counties from 2 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday. Significant ice accumulation is expected.

Be prepared for power outages due to strong winds and ice. Travel will be difficult at times.

Customers are urged to stay away from downed power lines.

National Grid is reminding customers to keep working flashlights nearby and to check in on elderly family members, friends and neighbors.

The impending storm could lead to widespread issues due to a combination of weather factors.

"What's out of the ordinary is the combination of ice and wind that's anticipated. So, as an example, anytime you get ice being added, ice will add weight to a tree limb or a power line, and when you add gusts of wind to that, it could cause trouble," said David Bertola, National Grid Spokesperson.

If you experience an outage or see downed power wires, you can report it by calling 1-800-867-5222.
