BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- East High School held Moriah without a field goal for all four in overtime en route to a Class D boys basketball state championship Saturday evening in Binghamton.

East (Section VI) scored the first 14 points of the extra frame, beating the Vikings 74-61.

The Panthers were led by senior guard Willard Anderson, who led East with 25 points and eight rebounds, and senior forward Justin Allen, who poured in 23 of his own and grabbed a game-high 18 boards.

Moriah (Section VII) held onto a one-point lead at halftime and at the end of the third quarter, but East started to take control when the fourth quarter opened, going on a 6-0 mini-run.

Moriah’s senior guard Dylan Trombley made a put-back layup at the end of regulation to tie the game, but that and his game-high 29 points turned out not to be enough for the win.
