BUFFALO, N.Y. -- After months of chilly weather, rising temps make for the perfect excuse to get outdoors, but as you soak in all that vitamin D this summer, medical professionals are reminding you to keep your skin in mind.
"One in five Americans will get skin cancer in their lifetime. And skin cancer if caught early is highly treatable, but we want to prevent it completely from happening if possible,” said Dr. Samuel Cloud, a physician at Erie County Medical Center.
Cloud says it should start with reading the back of any sun protectant you use.
Cloud adds that as far as kids are concerned, the same rules apply. But he warns that if an infant is under the age of six months, it's best to limit their sun exposure altogether.
