Broome County taxpayers can expect to save some money on their energy bills in the future.

County officials broke ground on a Solar Farm in the town of Conklin Thursday. The county is partnering with SolarCity, who will install and maintain the panels.

The energy generated from the farm will be used to power different buildings in the county. It's expected to cover 25 percent of the county's energy needs, saving taxpayers $4 million during the next 20 years.

Construction will begin next week and the county hopes to have the project completed by the spring.
