TONAWANDA, N.Y. -- A fire at a trailer park in the town of Tonawanda caused some major damage Monday night.

Firefighters say the flames started inside a vacant trailer on Military Road around 9 p.m. The chief says they kept the fire contained, but it wasn't easy.

"Trailer fires are always difficult, just because the structure they are. Usually fire travels fast and throughout. Our biggest concern is if they are occupied, getting the occupants out in a fast way. Other than that, it's protecting exposures, and try to keep damage minimal as possible," said Chief Randy Rider of the Sheridan Park Fire District.

No one was injured.
