CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. -- The ribbon was cut Friday on a $2.8 million renovation project at Cheektowaga's Kenneth J. Meyers Recreation Center, named in honor of the former town supervisor.
Meyers' son Timothy, a sitting Cheektowaga town councilmember, said the new center will be an inspiration to get young kids involved in their community.
"It's a tangible reminder now for our family, the grandkids, the great grand children to hang on to it for the legacy of my dad," Meyers said. "We just hope the more the merrier, and hopefully it will inspire the youth of this town to get involved in their community and stay here, that's what we want."
The renovations and additions include an ice rink, locker rooms, bathrooms and more.
