LOCKPORT, N.Y. -- City of Lockport workers made a grave discovery Thursday afternoon while working on a sewage drain.

Around 2 p.m., those workers found a man's body behind Wide Waters Marina on Market Street.

A cause of death has not been determined yet, and it's not clear how long his body has been there.

Investigators said they had a tough time processing the scene.

"It was a pretty dense area," said Todd Chenez, Lockport Police Department detective. "Heavily wooded. Treed. Lot of brush. We secured the scene with the help and assistance of the other police departments, looked for evidence and so forth. It took us a little bit of time to do that."

The coroner's office is attempting to notify the man's family, so his identity has not been released.
