LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Local officials are celebrating a unique learning center in New York.
Congressman Chris Jacobs presented a flag previously flown over the U.S. Capitol to the Challenger Learning Center in Lockport Saturday.
The center uses space exploration as a theme to get kids interested in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Everything is taught with a hands-on approach, including in a control room that looks just like NASA's.
Jacobs says he was so impressed with the center that he wanted to fulfill its one wish, a new flag.
"It's exciting, it's fun," Jacobs said. "Probably a lot of times the kids don't realize all that they're learning as they're learning and I just think that's an incredible opportunity and I want to see more of this."
