A local university is honoring George Floyd.
The St. Bonaventure University Jandoli School of Communication is establishing the George Floyd Memorial/The Intrepid Scholarship.
The scholarship was founded by 2013 Bonaventure grad Tony Lee.
It will be awarded to a communications student who is Black, indigenous, or a person of color.
Lee says that the world needs strong communicators now more than ever.
"The job isn't done. Just because there is a scholarship and just because it has the name endowed in it doesn't mean that we can't stop fighting," said Lee. "And can't stop educating and stop empowering the future communicators to change the world."
The scholarship is $5,250 — symbolic of George Floyd's date of death on May 25.
It will be split into an annual scholarship and an endowment scholarship.
