BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police announced Monday they have a 17-year-old in custody in connection with a shooting outside McKinley High School last week.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says the teen faces charges of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Flynn says the suspect accused of shooting a security guard and grazing a student is a student at McKinley.

Meanwhile, a separate 17-year-old arrested last week in connection with the stabbing of a 14-year-old that Wednesday afternoon was in court for a bail hearing. Flynn says he will continue to be held in custody. He is believed to be from Nepal and is considered a flight risk, according to the district attorney.

Both suspects will be back in court later this week and their cases could go to a grand jury.

"We believe there are others involved,” said Flynn. “I am not going to quantify others. Just others with an ‘s,’ and I’ll leave it at that. But we're continuing to work to find out who they were and bring anyone else to justice who deserves justice."

Police say the attack happened outside the high school, about 20 minutes after dismissal Wednesday.

Police say there was some sort of planned fight involving two groups.

The 14-year-old student, who was stabbed 10 times, is still in the pediatric intensive care unit at Oishei Children’s Hospital, though he is stable. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown says he has met with the victim and his family.

The security guard, identified as Bradley Walker, and other student who were injured have both been treated and released from the hospital.
