Local universities and colleges are making significant changes as coronavirus concerns continue to grow. SUNY schools will soon begin to transition to online learning.
Private colleges in the area like Canisius College are also responding. In early March the decision was made to pull back students from study abroad and it prohibited certain travel.
Daemen College announced on Thursday that it would be extending spring break for one week. Classes will resume on Monday, March 23 in an online format for the foreseeable future. The college campus will remain open and students living on campus who wish to return to campus will be accommodated upon completion of a health screening.
St. Bonaventure University is suspending most university-sponsored student travel and events, starting Friday at 5 p.m. until at least March 31.
Classes at the university will continue as normal at this time. But college officials are developing contingency plans if that changes.
Students at Hilbert College will transition to online courses for two weeks starting March 15. All students who live on campus will have to be moved out no later than March 14.
