BUFFALO, N.Y. — Some runners might be green with envy if they missed out on Saturday’s Shamrock Run in Buffalo.
The 44th annual race returned to an in-person event after two years off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 3,800 participants came out to the Old First Ward and Larkinville to run the five-mile race this year.
All proceeds go toward the Old First Ward Community Center, but organizers say the race benefits the entire neighborhood.
"It's a great celebration, not just for our community center, but for all of our local establishments, bars, restaurants,” Old First Ward Community Association Executive Director Patrick Gormley said. “They all take part, and it's a big windfall for everyone here in the first wart.
Runners who finished the race were greeted with an Irish Hooley near the finish line at the Old First Ward Community Center.
