The city of Buffalo has joined the American Medical Response team in a launch of their 9th Earn While You Learn Academy.

The academy is an 11-week program that allows aspiring EMT’s to be full time employees and get experience in the field while they study for certifications.

There are 13 students enrolled this time around. Instructors with the program say it helps the entire community.

”I recommend anyone who has ever had an interest in helping their fellow citizens – had an opportunity to do so along the way,” said lead instructor Robert Orlowski. “It is a very rewarding career. We offer it to anyone who walks through the door. We will interview as long as they have a GED and a license. Give us a call.”

A total of 156 local EMT’s have graduated from the program since it started in 2018.
