Spectrum partnered with several lawmakers, the University at Buffalo, and Sunnking Electronics Recycling with the mission to help Western New Yorkers responsibly recycle their old electronics.

Saturday, people dropped off any unused electronics at the university’s south campus.

"If it's left in the wrong hands, it can go in the wrong places. So, you drop it off to us and we're able to break it down, and if we're able to give it new life, than we can,” said Sunnking Inc. Director of Marketing Robert Burns. “If we're able to recycle it properly, than we will. But you know (it’s) in the right hands at that point."

Events like Saturday's helps keep certain hazardous products found in E-Waste out of landfills.
