Hundreds of blue painted pumpkins have been sold in honor of the late Lieutenant Craig Lehner.

Sunday marks two years since the former member of the Buffalo Police Department Underwater Recovery Team went missing and eventually died during a training exercise in the Niagara River.

This is the third year friends of Lehner are selling the pumpkins. All the proceeds are going towards the Buffalo Police K-9 Unit. One of Lehner's friend's says there's a reason the K-9 was chosen.

"It was one of Craig's things that he loved to do was working with his dog so in his honor we're going this to help," Scott Milligan. "We had close to 800 pumpkins when we started at 9:00 this morning. We've probably only got a hundred left."

If there are any pumpkins left, they will continue to be sold on Sunday on Woodside Avenue in Buffalo.
