The movement caught national attention during Bernie Sanders 2016 presidential campaign- and then sent shockwaves across the country with Alexandia Ocasia-Cortez's upset victory in the 14th congressional district primary over Congressman Joe Crowley.

But for members, the D-S-A is very much about local organizing and local actions.
