Sorry, folks, it's not those Gamecocks from the SEC: The Syracuse basketball team has announced its first-ever date with the Gamecocks from Jacksonville State at the Dome this December.
Jacksonville State was just 13-19 and lost in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. However, the Gamecocks were the OVC Tournament champions in 2017 and lost 78-63 as a No. 15 seed to Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Jacksonville State was a Division II team until 1995 and won the national championship in 1985.
Syracuse will host JSU for the first time on December 10, two days after a previously announced home date with Green Bay. SU is also scheduled to host UMBC on November 10 and take on LSU at Madison Square Garden next season.
