Attention Sabres fans: Captain Jack Eichel returned to practice with the team Monday.

It was his first time back on the ice since leaving during a game against the New York Islanders game a week ago early in the first period with an upper body injury.

Head coach Phil Housley said they'll know more on Eichel's status Tuesday.

The Sabres are currently holding onto the final wild card spot by a point, so Eichel’s balancing being patient with his rehab with getting back as soon as possible.

"I think the hardest part about it is just the mental aspect and we've talked about this before the last couple of years, just not being able to get out there and do it,” Eichel said. “But it feels good to practice today. It feels good to make strides. I felt good. I'm feeling like myself again, so just want to try and see what tomorrow brings."

The Sabres host the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night at KeyBank Center.
