Dino Babers will remain Syracuse's football coach "well into the future," Athletic Director John Wildhack again emphasized, while not offering up a number of years or dollar amount on Babers's contract extension, which was announced Wednesday.

In his third season with Syracuse, Babers led the Orange to a 9-3 record, including an undefeated season inside the Carrier Dome. The team is heading to the Camping World Bowl in Orlando after it was picked last in the ACC's Atlantic division in the preseason.

Wildhack said the extension sends a message to recruits and to the rest of the college football world — that Babers enjoys it in Central New York and is building something special, and also that the university and community is committed to competing for wins and conference titles.

Wildhack also said of the football program and the athletic department at large, "we're not done," and pointed to major renovations on the horizon at the Carrier Dome.
