Dan North is no stranger to Central New York. A graduate of Ilion High School (just two years before it became Central Valley Academy) and SUNY Oswego, Dan has spent many years appreciating the town he is proud to call home. Despite the long, snowy winters Central New York has made famous, it’s the hard-working people and local business community that fosters Dan’s deep sense of local pride. With a sincere appreciation for the impact of these lasting local businesses, Dan mentions the population’s resilience throughout time (and cold weather) as a compliment to the many things that make the area so special. After all, while the seasons may come and go, the community remains.
Dan North has been with Spectrum News since December, 2017. However, after graduating from SUNY Oswego with his Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting and Mass Communications, Dan worked in Binghamton for a local affiliate as both a multimedia journalist and the weekend sports anchor. Dan is inspired by the opportunity to share people’s stories. Most notable is a story focused on a family of 14 people leaving everything they have here in the U.S. to go serve as missionaries in Guatemala. It is stories like these, where Dan is exposed to large gatherings of people coming together for one common purpose, that make him feel most connected to the community.
Dan is a huge sports fan. He enjoys watching basketball, rooting for the New York Giants, and playing golf. When Dan isn’t playing on the field or cheering from the sidelines, he spends time volunteering at his church with his wife as Leaders of the Young Adults Ministry.
