Otsego County is honoring a fallen Vietnam veteran.

State Senator James Seward and Assemblyman John Salka unveiled a new sign along State Highway 205 on Monday, dedicating a stretch of the roadway to Sergeant John Kempe Winslow, a Hartwick native who was killed in action in 1969.

"I am proud not only for John, but what this means to all the vets. It's been how many years that Vietnam's been over, and to have them recognized at this point, I think it's a tribute to this state and country," said his sister Maria Winslow-Folts.

A petition had been circulating to name the road in Winslow's honor.
