Advocates in the Southern Tier joined a nationwide rally this week calling for elected leaders to "people over pharma profits."

A group rallied outside Rep. Anthony Bridisi's Binghamton office on Tuesday, speaking out against skyrocketing drug prices, which they say denies health care to many in need.

"I do have a granddaughter who because of a medical condition she has, she's on human growth hormone shots. She gets them every day, she's had since she was about six months old and she's nine months old now. Those shots are two thousand dollars a month. Her insurance company pays for it, but if she is without insurance, who can afford two thousand dollars a month," said Linda Quilty, co-chair of Indivisible Binghamton.

When asked to comment, Brindisi said, "we need to do everything we can to bring down drug prices in this country."
