The operator of a motorcycle was killed over the weekend in a three-car crash in Tioga County.
According to the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle was traveling east on State Route 79 near Terrell Road in the Town of Richford around 4:40 p.m. Sunday when it traveled into the oncoming lane, striking a motorcycle and then a car that was traveling west on the roadway.
The operator of the motorcycle, Robert Spaulding, 77, of Ithaca, was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle and the driver and one passenger of the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Berkshire Fire Department, Richford Fire Department, and Maine E.M.S.
The investigation by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit is ongoing at this time.
