What you may have known as 'going to see a shrink' could actually be your path to emotional healing.

Living Free Counseling in the Southern Tier believes what they do helps change lives. "It helps decrease anxiety, it helps people come out of depression. Even coping with more serious mental illness like bipolar disorder, things like that," said Owner, Anna Zaccardo.

This counseling center has experienced clients of all ages, and various issues. But one of the constant reasons people seek help is because of a battle with anxiety.

Not only are more people seeking help through therapy, but there's also more people going into the profession because there aren't enough workers.

"More people are going into the field which is fantastic because we do, we need more people who are trained and skilled. Who care about people's mental health and wellness," said Zaccardo.

One way Zuccardo says people can start recognizing their emotions is by journaling.

"I always recommend clients journal when things happen how they feel and what they're telling themselves because our internal narratives are huge. If we can recognize some of the internal narratives that cause us to repeat negative behaviors that don't work and we can rewrite those narratives we can really heal and grow," said Zaccardo.
