It’s Valentine’s Day and love is indeed in the air at Animal Adventure Park.

There was a surprise Thursday morning with the premiere of the “Taj Cam” — a live camera feed inside the new giraffe barn where Tajiri the Giraffe, the son of April the Giraffe, lives.

He wasn’t alone.

He now has a new friend. A female one.

The Binghamton area park announced Thursday that their newest giraffe is 14 years old and came to the park without a name.

She’s a reticulated giraffe standing more than 14 feet tall and has given birth before. She arrived at the park in January, and after quarantine protocols, has acclimated well to her new environment.

She was introduced to Tajiri just last week.

“It’s a love story similar to April and Oliver’s. Again, we have a mature, proven female introduced to a coming of age bull,” said Jordan Patch, owner of Animal Adventure Park. “Tajiri is now one step closer to starting his own family, which truly means that Taj now has the opportunity to fulfill his roll in the species management program, working towards sustainable and diverse populations.”

Tajiri was born in April 2017 when more than 1.2 million people tuned in live to see mother April give birth.

The zoo said back on July that April is pregnant again.

Details of a naming contest for the new giraffe can be found on the park's Facebook page.
